At Mitie, we're on a mission to provide exceptional care and support within our healthcare facilities, and we are looking for a dedicated Waste Porter to join our team at John Radcliffe Hospital.

As a Waste Porter, you'll play an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and organised hospital environment. Your main responsibilities will include the collection, transportation and removal of clinical waste, domestic waste, recycling and dirty linen from wards and departments across the hospital.

You'll ensure that all waste and linen is handled, segregated and transported safely to the appropriate collection and disposal areas, following site procedures, infection prevention requirements, and health and safety guidelines.

This is an active role that involves regular walking, pushing and pulling waste containers and linen cages, as well as manual handling. You'll need to be reliable, able to work effectively as part of a team and comfortable working in a busy hospital environment.

In healthcare, no two days are the same. You'll need to be flexible and adaptable, responding to changing priorities while ensuring waste and linen collections are completed safely and efficiently.

Mitie is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable groups, including children and adults at risk, and expects all employees to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced criminal record check with appropriate barred list checks and satisfactory references. All colleagues are expected to understand and uphold their safeguarding responsibilities as part of their role.

This role is considered regulated activity and therefore subject to the following

-It is a criminal offence for people who are barred from working regulated activity to apply for roles that require them to work unsupervised with that particular group (i.e. adults, children or both).

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and Mitie is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are "spent" unless they are "protected" under the filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children or vulnerable adults.
