About this role

Derby dog owners can book grooming through WoofWalk, and we need two groomers to take those bookings. The work is self-employed and paid on commission, so there is no wage, and it is separate from the dog-walking job that Derby applicants may have seen from us.

WoofWalk is a UK booking app for dog owners, and it does not employ you. Owners find a groomer in the app, book and pay there, and what you earn is paid out to your bank. Bookings and income are not guaranteed. You set the price for each dog size and choose your working days.

The role suits people who already groom to a professional standard. It is not a training scheme. Many start by moving regular customers across, then add new ones from owners in Allestree, Littleover or Darley Abbey.

You can groom in a home salon, from a van, or in the owner's home. The search does not yet narrow by area, so a request might come from Spondon when you work around Mickleover. Check the address and decline what you cannot reach. You may also decline a groom you are not equipped for, and you must tell the owner before you start if you find a health problem. Mobile groomers get a day-route planner and an HMRC-rate mileage log.

Nothing to pay to join. There is no commission for the first 14 days, then 10% of each booking, falling to 5% for life once you reach 20 bookings in a single month. Home groomers should ask Derby City Council about planning and business rates. Your own tax, National Insurance and insurance. Over 18. Apply on Find a Job with how you work and the areas you cover, and we will send the set-up guide.
