About this role
In a city as small as Ely, word of a good sitter travels quickly. We are looking for two or three self-employed pet sitters, including someone who can reach Littleport and Soham, to care for dogs in their owners' own homes. It is not a dog-walking advert, and the job is quite different.
What owners want when they go away is a person who will come to the house, stick to the dog's usual day and say how it went. So you feed and water, give medicine if there is any, let the dog out, take it for a walk, keep it company and message the owner daily.
On the business side, WoofWalk offers a booking app, not a job. WoofWalk pays no wage, and there is no guaranteed work. Set your price for a visit and a night as you see fit. Owners book and pay in the app, and the payout goes to your bank. Your tax, National Insurance and insurance remain with you. Our research has no Ely sitting price, so we say nothing about what to charge.
Boarding is separate. Having dogs stay at your home is home boarding, which needs a licence from the council first and has its own listing in the app. Sitting at the owner's address needs none.
Your costs to Woof
Walk
none at sign-up and none for the first 14 days. Then 15% of each booking. When five of your own clients have joined through you, it is 10% for life, and clients you find yourself pay 10% from day one.
Over 18. Please apply on Find a Job and tell us whether Littleport and Soham are within reach, and whether overnights are possible.
