About this role
Join a SME Cybersecurity company as a SOC Team Lead in Bristol.
Attacks aren't slowing down. Ransomware groups have gone commercial, phishing kits are sold as subscriptions, and boards now ask security questions they didn't know to ask five years ago. This growing cybersecurity SME sits in the middle of that shift, building out its security operations function and looking for a SOC Team Lead who can run a tight ship without needing every decision signed off first.
Here's what you'll be doing
Lead a team of SOC analysts across shifts, setting priorities and making sure nothing critical slips through triage
Own incident response from detection through to resolution, coordinating with wider IT and client teams where needed
Refine detection rules and playbooks so the SOC catches more with less noise
Review and act on threat intelligence feeds, adjusting monitoring priorities as the landscape changes
Report on SOC performance and incident trends to senior stakeholders, in language they can actually use
Mentor analysts and support their development, from junior hires through to senior contributors
Here are the skills you'll need
Solid hands-on experience with SIEM platforms, EDR tools, and incident response processes
A track record of leading or mentoring a security team, even informally
Comfortable under pressure. Incidents don't wait for a convenient time
Clear communicator, able to explain technical risk to non-technical stakeholders
Working knowledge of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or NIST
Relevant certifications (CISSP, GCIH, or similar) are useful, though practical skill matters more
Key perks and benefits
Salary of £48,000 to £67,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working, based in Bristol with flexibility on office days
Private medical insurance and pension contribution
Bonus scheme on top of base salary
Annual leave that respects the fact you have a life outside work
Why pursue a career in Cybersecurity?
Demand for skilled security professionals keeps outpacing supply, and that isn't changing anytime soon. Bristol has quietly become one of the UK's stronger regional hubs for cybersecurity, with a cluster of established firms and start-ups competing for good people. A SOC Team Lead role here puts you close to real technical work and real leadership responsibility, which is a rare combination this early in a leadership career.
