About this role
Join a enterprise PR & Communications company as a Public Relations Account Manager in Oxford.
Reputation management has become boardroom business. As media cycles shrink and clients demand faster, sharper responses, established PR & Communications firms are investing heavily in account teams who can think strategically and execute under pressure. This is an enterprise-scale operation with a long track record in the sector, running campaigns for household names across multiple markets. The Public Relations Account Manager role sits at the centre of that work, in Oxford, managing client relationships that matter.
Here's what you'll be doing
Managing a portfolio of client accounts, acting as their day-to-day point of contact and trusted adviser
Developing and delivering PR strategies that tie directly to client business objectives
Writing press releases, briefing documents and media pitches that actually get read
Building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors and industry influencers
Monitoring coverage, tracking campaign performance and reporting results back to clients in plain terms
Coaching junior account executives and reviewing their output before it goes out the door
Here are the skills you'll need
At least three years' experience in a PR or communications agency, ideally client-facing
Confident written English. This job lives and dies on the quality of your copy
A working media contacts book, or the ability to build one fast
Comfortable managing budgets, timelines and multiple stakeholders at once
Calm under pressure. Crises don't announce themselves in advance
A genuine interest in the news agenda and how it shifts week to week
Key perks and benefits
Salary of £31,000 to £45,500, depending on experience
Hybrid working, with structured in-office time in Oxford for team collaboration
Private medical and dental insurance
Enhanced pension scheme
Performance-based bonuses on top of base salary
Why pursue a career in PR & Communications?
PR & Communications has grown well beyond press releases and media lists. Clients now expect account managers who understand reputation, digital channels and crisis response as one connected discipline, and that's pushed salaries and career ladders upward across the sector. Oxford has quietly built a strong cluster of agencies and in-house teams, which means real progression without having to relocate to London. Good account managers are hard to find. Firms hold onto them.
