Educato is working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Denton, who are looking to appoint a patient and dedicated Life Skills Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional learning needs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about helping children and young people develop the practical skills they need to become more confident and independent. You'll be working within a specialist setting where learning goes beyond the classroom, supporting pupils to develop communication, social interaction, self-care and everyday living skills at their own pace.

The role would suit an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant, support worker, care worker or someone with a background in supporting individuals with additional needs.

The Role

As a Life Skills Teaching Assistant, you will

-

Provide 1

1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND.

  • Support pupils in developing everyday life skills, including dressing, personal hygiene, eating and maintaining personal routines, where required.
  • Help pupils develop independence with practical activities such as preparing food, organising belongings and following daily routines.
  • Encourage communication, social interaction and positive relationships with others.
  • Support pupils to develop decision-making skills, confidence and independence through structured activities.
  • Use visual aids, demonstrations and practical resources to support understanding and engagement.
  • Assist with learning activities focused on preparation for adulthood and everyday life.
  • Support pupils with personal care where required, following individual care plans and school procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to deliver personalised learning experiences and celebrate individual progress.

We're Looking For

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND, complex needs or learning disabilities.
  • A patient, compassionate and encouraging approach.
  • An understanding of the importance of promoting independence rather than completing tasks for pupils.
  • Confidence supporting personal care, where required, and following individual care plans.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt to different needs and abilities.
  • A practical, proactive approach to helping pupils learn through everyday experiences.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop essential life skills and achieve greater independence.

Why Register with Educato?

  • Competitive rates of pay, from £110 per day.
  • A dedicated consultant supporting you throughout your placement.
  • Opportunities across SEND schools, mainstream schools with specialist provisions and alternative provisions.
  • Long-term, permanent and daily supply opportunities available.
  • Recommend a friend scheme.
  • Ongoing support throughout your career.

Whether you're an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant or have a background in care or support work and want to move into education, we'd love to hear from you.
