The Education Specialists are currently recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to join a specialist SEN school in the Stockport area.

This is initially a long-term temporary position employed through TES, with the opportunity for the successful candidate to move into a permanent role with the school for the right person.

The Role

As School Caretaker, you will play an important role in ensuring the school site is safe, secure, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Maintenance Operative or in a similar role, with a practical and proactive approach to their work.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out general maintenance and repairs across the school site
• Ensuring the school premises are safe, secure and well maintained
• Completing routine checks and reporting any issues promptly
• Supporting with general site upkeep, including grounds and external areas
• Assisting with deliveries, contractors and visitors where required
• Responding to day-to-day maintenance issues
• Supporting the wider school team to maintain a safe environment for pupils and staff
• Following all relevant health & safety and safeguarding procedures

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who is

• Experienced as a School Caretaker, Site Assistant, Maintenance Operative or similar
• Practical, reliable and able to work independently
• Confident carrying out general maintenance and basic repairs
• Proactive, organised and able to prioritise tasks
• Comfortable working within a specialist SEN school environment
• Flexible and able to work up to full-time hours when required
• Professional and approachable when dealing with staff, pupils, visitors and contractors
• DBS checked and ideally registered on the DBS Update Service
