Personal Care Assistant (PCA)

Could you be the person a young person trusts most at school?

We're looking for a warm, patient Support Assistant to join our secondary school in East Ham and work with a pupil with severe autism. Your role is simple but powerful: to help them feel safe, comfortable and cared for, so they can get the most out of their day.

• Helping with personal care (toileting, changing, hygiene and dressing) with dignity and respect
• Sticking to familiar routines and using visual supports to keep things calm and predictable
• Spotting when the pupil is uncomfortable or distressed, even without words
• Encouraging small steps towards independence
• Working alongside teachers, therapists and the pupil's family

• Kind, calm and unflustered
• Reliable and consistent, because routine matters so much to our pupils
• Respectful, discreet and professional
• Physically able to help with moving and handling
• Experienced in school, SEN or care settings
