About this role

Dog owners in Edinburgh book grooming slots through WoofWalk, and we need two more groomers. To be clear from the start, this is self-employed work paid on commission, with no wage, and it has nothing to do with the dog-walking advert we also run.

WoofWalk is a UK booking app for dog owners and is not an employer. Grooming is its own listed service. You might run a salon from your home in Morningside, a van that serves Stockbridge and Leith, or you might go to the owner's door. You set the price for each dog size. Owners book and pay in the app and your earnings are paid to your bank. Bookings and income are not guaranteed.

This is for people who already groom professionally. It is not a course. Many start by moving regular customers onto the app.

Search is not filtered by area, so a request from Musselburgh or Portobello may reach you even if you stay west of the centre. Look at the address and decline what is out of reach. You can say no to a groom you are not set up for, such as a matted or nervous dog, and you should tell the owner before starting if you notice a skin problem. Drivers get a day-route planner and an HMRC-rate mileage log.

Nothing to pay to join. No commission for 14 days, then 10% of each booking, and 5% for life after 20 bookings in one month. Home groomers should ask the City of Edinburgh Council about planning and business rates. Own tax, National Insurance and insurance. Over 18. Apply on Find a Job with how you work and which areas you cover, and we will send the set-up guide.
