Cardiff dog groomer wanted, self-employed: Pontcanna, Roath, Penarth and the Vale

We are looking for two dog groomers in Cardiff and the Vale. The arrangement is self-employed and commission-based, with no wage, and it has no connection to the dog-walking vacancies we have advertised here before.

WoofWalk is a booking app for dog owners in the UK. We are not your employer. Grooming is a service owners can search for, book and pay for in the app, and your earnings go to your bank. Bookings and income are not guaranteed. Your hours and your prices are yours to set, with a price for each dog size.

You might groom from a salon at home in Whitchurch, drive a van around Roath and Cyncoed, or go into owners' houses in Pontcanna and Llandaff. We want people who already groom: this is not a course. Many start by bringing existing customers onto the app.

The search does not filter by area, so you may be asked to travel to Penarth or Canton when you would rather stay north. Always check the address and decline what does not fit. You can refuse a groom you cannot do properly, such as a matted or very nervous dog, and tell the owner before you start if you find a skin problem. Mobile groomers get a day-route planner and an HMRC-rate mileage log.

Joining costs nothing. The first 14 days have no commission, then it is 10% of each booking, falling to 5% for life after 20 bookings in a month. Home groomers should ask Cardiff Council about planning and business rates. Own tax, National Insurance and insurance. Over 18. Apply on Find a Job telling us whether you use a home salon, a van or owners' homes and which areas you cover, and we will send the set-up guide.
