Pet sitter in Cardiff: holiday cover in the owner's home, self-employed

On Find a Job, Cardiff has sent WoofWalk more applicants than any city outside England, so we are adding a second kind of work here: pet sitting. We want three self-employed sitters who can look after a dog at the owner's own home while the owner is away.

The job is cover, not walking: two visits a day to feed, let out, walk and keep the dog company, or an overnight stay for a weekend or a week. You follow the owner's notes on food and any medication and you send a short update each day. Weekend and school-holiday availability is most of what sitting work is.

From public sitter listings in Cardiff, a home visit is priced anywhere from £10 to £16. That is the local market, not our rate. In WoofWalk you set your own price per visit and per night. Boarding dogs at your own home is a separate service in the app and in Wales it needs a licence from the council before you take a booking.

WoofWalk is a UK booking app for dog owners, not an employer. You are self-employed, with no wage and no guaranteed work. Owners book and pay through the app and the money is paid out to your bank. Nothing to pay to join; no commission for your first 14 days, then 15% per booking, falling to 10% for life once five of your own clients have joined through you. Your own tax, National Insurance and insurance.

Over 18. Apply on Find a Job with the parts of Cardiff and the Vale you can reach and whether you can stay overnight.
