About this role

This advert is for dog groomers in and around Newcastle upon Tyne, and it is not the dog-walking job.

The work is commission-based self-employment

there is no wage, and WoofWalk is a UK booking app for dog owners, not your employer. We have two places.

Grooming is listed in the app as a service in its own right. Owners choose a groomer, book a slot and pay through the app, and the money is paid out to your bank. Bookings and income are not guaranteed. You set your prices for each size of dog and decide your hours.

We want people who already groom confidently, not trainees. You might run a salon from home in Fenham, a van that covers Jesmond, Gosforth and Heaton, or visit owners in Tynemouth and Whitley Bay. Many start by asking existing customers to book through the app.

The app does not filter search results by area, so a booking might come in from Gateshead when you only work north of the Tyne. Check the address and decline it if you cannot get there. You can turn down a groom you are not equipped for, such as a matted coat, and you must tell the owner before you start if you find a skin problem. Travelling groomers get a day-route planner and an HMRC-rate mileage log.

Joining is free. After 14 days with no commission, you pay 10% of each booking, and 5% for life once you take 20 bookings in one month. A home salon can bring council rules on planning and business rates. Own tax, National Insurance and insurance. Over 18. Apply on Find a Job saying whether you work from home, a van or owners' homes and which areas you cover, and we will send the set-up guide.
