About this role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Receptionist/Administration Officer within EPUT.

The role is primarily based in Rochford; however, the postholder will be required to work across our locality areas of Canvey Island, Westcliff, Southend and Rayleigh on a rota basis. As a key part of the role is patient facing reception duties, staff must be able to work on site and may occasionally be required, at short notice, to attend a different base to ensure service continuity, including cover for sickness absence or emergency leave

  • We are looking for someone with a positive and compassionate approach to supporting patient care. The role will include making and taking patient telephone calls.
  • The successful candidates will be expected to work in the organisation, providing services in a professional, efficient, friendly and polite manner.
  • You must be able to build effective working relationships, be approachable and accessible with a flexible approach to work. This is an excellent career development opportunity for a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual who wishes to pursue an administrative career in the NHS.
  • You will be required to handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls to the multi-disciplinary clinical staff and managers in a polite and efficient manner, receive and deal with telephone enquiries and responding appropriately to callers including high risk and vulnerable clients and carers.
  • You will also need to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
  • You will need to record accurate messages and follow them up appropriately in accordance to department guidelines.
  • You will deal, face to face, with patients and families seeking further help/information and need to be aware of the needs of the clients.
  • You will exchange confidential and/or sensitive information between staff, patients, and carers in person or on the telephone. The unpredictability of patients means that persuasive, reassuring, empathic, skills are required at all times.
  • Administrative support - covering email inboxes, completing MDT minutes, preparing letters and general administrative duties.
