About this role

ABOUT TCS

Thermoelectric Conversion Systems Ltd (TCS) is a Scottish engineering company developing practical thermoelectric technologies for heating and energy recovery. Our work brings together mechanical, thermal, electrical and manufacturing disciplines, with a strong emphasis on turning engineering concepts into equipment that can be built, tested and deployed.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are recruiting a capable, hands-on Mechanical Development Engineer to support industrial thermoelectric generator (TEG) development, including TCS’s UK–India engineering collaborations and Scottish Enterprise-related project work. The position will be design-led at first, progressing into prototype manufacture, assembly and validation as the work advances. You will take ownership of defined engineering tasks while working closely with the wider TCS team and external partners.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Develop 3D CAD models and mechanical assemblies for thermoelectric generator equipment, interfaces, mounting arrangements and associated test systems.

• Produce clear, controlled manufacturing drawings, tolerances, bills of materials and specifications that suppliers and workshop teams can use.

• Design for manufacture and assembly; select suitable components, materials and fabrication methods with cost, availability and maintainability in mind.

• Integrate mechanical designs with thermal, fluid and electrical interfaces, working alongside engineers from other disciplines.

• Coordinate technical inputs with fabrication suppliers and engineering partners, including reviews of manufacturability and design changes.

• Support build, fit-up, commissioning and testing of prototypes and validation rigs; investigate issues and feed improvements back into the design.

• Prepare concise technical notes, design revisions, test evidence and project deliverables; participate in occasional international travel, including India.

WORKING ARRANGEMENTS & APPLICATION

Based at TCS in Clydebank, this is a predominantly on-site engineering role. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with colleagues across mechanical, electrical, electronics and product-development activities.

Right to work

Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK without employer visa sponsorship (for example, through British or Irish citizenship, settled or pre-settled status, or indefinite leave to remain). TCS cannot provide visa sponsorship for this role.

To apply

Send your CV and a short note describing relevant projects and practical engineering experience via the advertised application route.

Equal opportunity

TCS welcomes applications from people with different educational and professional routes into engineering. Selection will focus on relevant skills, experience and the ability to perform the role.
