Are you an organised, proactive and inspiring leader ready for your next challenge?

Do you thrive in a busy environment, enjoy leading people and have a passion for making things work better?

Islamia Schools is seeking a talented, enthusiastic and solution-focused Operations Manager to play a key role in the successful day-to-day running of our two independent Islamic secondary schools.

This is more than an office management position. It is an opportunity to take ownership, influence positive change and contribute to the continued development of two schools dedicated to academic excellence, strong values and the success of every pupil.

Working closely with the School Business Manager, Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will be at the heart of school operations, ensuring our administrative services, admissions processes and school systems operate efficiently and professionally.

We are looking for someone who brings energy, initiative, excellent organisational skills and a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding service.

What makes this opportunity exciting?

• A varied and rewarding leadership role – No two days are the same. You will oversee a wide range of operational activities across two schools.

• The opportunity to make a real impact – Help shape and improve administrative systems, introduce efficiencies and drive continuous improvement.

• Work closely with senior leaders – Play an important role in supporting operational priorities and the wider development of the schools.

• Lead and develop a team – Motivate and support colleagues while creating a positive, professional and high-performing office environment.

• Develop your career – Gain valuable experience across school operations, admissions, HR administration, compliance, finance coordination and organisational development.

• Flexible working arrangements considered – We recognise the importance of work-life balance and are open to discussing alternative working patterns for the right candidate.

The role

As Operations Manager, you will take a leading role in coordinating the daily operations of both schools, with key responsibilities including:

• Leading and supporting the reception and administration teams across both schools.

• Overseeing the admissions journey, from initial enquiry through to pupil enrolment.

• Coordinating open days, school events, admissions activities and parent communications.

• Supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team with operational planning, reporting and administration.

• Overseeing school management information systems, pupil records and administrative processes.

• Coordinating HR administration, recruitment processes and staff records.

• Supporting procurement, financial administration and resource management.

• Working collaboratively with site, IT and finance colleagues to ensure smooth daily operations.

• Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve systems and deliver a consistently high standard of service.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a confident, approachable and highly organised professional who enjoys taking responsibility, solving problems and supporting others to succeed.

You will bring

• Significant experience in office management, administration or operational coordination.

• Experience supervising, managing or motivating a team.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

• Confidence using Microsoft Office, databases and digital systems.

• A proactive, resourceful and solution-focused approach.

• The ability to work independently, use initiative and exercise sound judgement.

• A commitment to safeguarding and supporting the Islamic ethos and values of our schools.

Experience working in a school or educational environment would be an advantage, but is not essential. We also welcome applications from experienced operations and office management professionals in other sectors who can demonstrate transferable skills.

Working hours and flexibility

The position is advertised as a full-time, permanent role working 40 hours per week over 52 weeks.

For the right candidate, we are happy to consider a term-time contract with additional working weeks, subject to the operational needs of the schools. This can be discussed at interview, with salary pro-rated accordingly.

Occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support school events, admissions activities and other key functions.
