About this role

Maintenance Person

Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with on-call cover every other weekend

About the role

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Person with a broad range of practical skills across repairs, decorating and building maintenance, as well as knowledge of health and safety and experience with compliance checks. The role sits within a team of three Maintenance People and offers a varied mix of hands-on repairs, decorating and planned maintenance.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working across different trades and brings personality to the home.

What does the work involve?

The maintenance team carries out repairs, decorating and planned work across Catherine House, helping to keep it looking and feeling like a home, not an institution. The work could include repairing a leak, fixing a radiator, fitting fire doors, decorating a room or dealing with other maintenance needs as they arise.

Regular fire alarm, equipment and hot water temperature checks are also part of the role. These checks need to be recorded, with maintenance books kept up to date and anything needing attention followed up.

Benefits

• Complementary meals

• Select Bank Holidays Qualify for Enhanced Pay

• Young workers (18+) are paid the same as those aged 25+

• Blue Light card eligibility (access to discounts at hundreds of hight street & online retailers)

• Free DBS

• Unlimited access to our Refer a Friend bonus voucher scheme - £50 each

• Automatic enrolment on to our pension scheme

• CPD accredited training programme delivered by the home’s Care Academy

• Career opportunities

• A 24/7 specialist welfare help line for guidance & support

Who else works in the home?

Alongside the two other Maintenance People, the role involves working with the Home Manager and wider team. We have a one-team approach, with team members sharing anything they notice that needs maintenance attention.

Will there be contact with family members?

Yes. Maintenance work takes place in family members’ rooms and shared spaces, so conversations and getting to know people are a natural part of the day. Their privacy and routines matter when work is being carried out in their home.
