About this role

What skills and experience we're looking for

Family Support and Community Engagement Lead

"Building strong relationships between home, school and community to help every child flourish."

Join Our St Luke's Family

Could you be the person who makes a difference every day?

Following the retirement of a long-standing and highly respected member of our team, we have an exciting opportunity for someone special to join St Luke's CE Primary School.

We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference to children and families and become an important part of our caring and committed school community.

This certainly isn't a role where every day looks the same.

One day you might be welcoming a new family into school, another supporting a child or parent who needs a little extra help, working to improve attendance, liaising with outside agencies, or helping to remove barriers that can prevent a child from thriving and achieving their potential.

At the heart of the role is one thing: relationships.

We need someone who can build positive and trusting relationships with children, parents, carers, staff and the wider community. You will need to be approachable, organised and compassionate, but also confident enough to have difficult conversations when they are needed.

The Role

As our Family Support and Community Engagement Lead, you will play a key role in strengthening the partnership between home and school, ensuring that children and families receive the support they need to flourish.

Key responsibilities will include

  • Providing pastoral support and guidance to children and families.
  • Developing positive relationships with parents and carers.
  • Supporting and promoting excellent school attendance.
  • Working closely with staff to identify and remove barriers to learning.
  • Liaising with external agencies and professionals to secure support for families.
  • Coordinating early help and family support interventions where appropriate.
  • Leading and supporting transition arrangements for new pupils and families.
  • Creating, coordinating and hosting family outreach activities within the school environment, including events and engagement opportunities delivered outside normal school hours.
  • Promoting family engagement and community involvement in school life.
  • Supporting the school's commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.

We

Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Genuinely cares about children and families.
  • Is warm, approachable and an excellent communicator.
  • Can build positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Is organised, proactive and able to use their own initiative.
  • Enjoys variety and can adapt when priorities change.
  • Has a positive, solution-focused and "can do" attitude.
  • Understands the importance of attendance and the difference being in school every day can make.
  • Can work effectively with colleagues and external agencies.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child.
  • Shares and supports the Christian values and ethos of our school.
