The opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead late-shift manufacturing activities. You will coordinate people, materials and equipment to maintain a safe, efficient flow of product from raw materials through to finished goods.
Working closely with the Production and Engineering Manager and other operational colleagues, you will set daily priorities, support the shop-floor team and help improve productivity, quality, cost and delivery performance.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily production in line with customer priorities, MRP job cards and the agreed prioritisation system.
- Maintain the production management and ERP systems, ensuring records and production information are accurate and current.
- Confirm that raw materials, labour and equipment are available so production can start and run efficiently.
- Monitor output, downtime and lead times, working with operators and managers to remove obstacles and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Lead shop-floor personnel fairly and consistently, addressing attendance, conduct and performance issues with HR and management.
- Communicate priorities through daily direction and toolbox talks, and ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
- Maintain safe working conditions, including correct PPE use, clear walkways and fire exits, effective housekeeping, machine guarding and safe systems of work.
- Record and escalate accidents, hazards, near misses, maintenance needs and other production issues promptly.
- Support KPI reviews, continuous-improvement activity and audits against
ISO 9001
2015,
ISO 14001
2015 and
ISO 45001
2018.
- Promote team development, training, professional conduct and confidentiality.
About you
You will be a confident, visible supervisor who can balance production demands with safety, quality and people leadership. You should be comfortable making day-to-day decisions, communicating clear priorities and working collaboratively across operations.
Experience and skills
- Experience supervising or leading people in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong understanding of production planning, workflow, resource allocation and continuous improvement.
- Experience using production, ERP or MRP systems and maintaining accurate operational records.
- A practical understanding of workplace health and safety, PPE, incident reporting and safe systems of work.
- Ability to monitor performance, interpret KPIs and help identify corrective actions.
- Clear communication, sound judgement and the confidence to address issues promptly and fairly.
- Organised, dependable and able to maintain professional confidentiality.
What’s on offer
- A key leadership role within a busy manufacturing operation.
- The opportunity to influence safety, productivity and continuous improvement.
- Ongoing learning and development.
