About this role
Ever looked after a friend's dog while they were on holiday? Then you already know most of this job. In Bristol we want three self-employed sitters to do the same for owners who find them through WoofWalk. It is not dog walking, which we advertise separately.
Picture two visits a day for a week, or three nights in the owner's house over a long weekend. You feed the dog, let it out, walk it, give any tablets and finish with a photo and a short note.
This is your own small business. WoofWalk only connects you with owners, so it is not your employer, there is no wage, and work is not guaranteed. Rates, per visit and per night, are for you to decide. The owner pays in the app and the payout goes to your bank. Your tax bill, your National Insurance and your insurance cover are all down to you.
Public sitter listings in Bristol put a drop-in visit at about £12 and a night of home boarding at about £35. Take them as a rough guide only.
If dogs were to stay at your own house, that is home boarding. You would need a council licence before offering it, and the app handles it as a different service. Looking after a dog at the owner's address needs no licence.
Signing up costs nothing. Commission is zero for 14 days; after that WoofWalk keeps 15% of each booking. When five of your own clients have joined through you, that becomes 10% for life. Anyone you recruit yourself pays 10% right from the start.
Applicants must be over 18. Send yours on Find a Job, saying how far you can travel and whether overnights are fine.
