About this role
Aberdeen has households where somebody is away for weeks at a time, offshore or on holiday, leaving the dog at home with a partner or neighbour stretched thin. We would like three self-employed pet sitters to cover for them in the owner's own home. This is separate from our dog-walking advert.
The work is looking after a dog while the owner is away. It could be visits twice a day, nights at the house, or a whole fortnight of cover. Follow their routine, walk the dog, keep it company and send a daily update.
WoofWalk runs a booking app for UK owners and is not an employer. We pay no wage, and bookings are not guaranteed. Set your price per visit and per night, choose your bookings, and let owners pay through the app, which pays you out to your bank. Tax, National Insurance and insurance are your job.
Public sitter listings in Aberdeen put a home visit at about £14.50. Only two sitters were listed for home boarding, at £15 to £25 a night, so that figure is thin.
Having dogs stay at your own address is home boarding. In Scotland that needs a licence from the council before you start, and the app lists it as its own service. A stay in the owner's home falls outside it.
Nothing to pay to join. Your first 14 days are commission-free; then it is 15% of each booking. That falls to 10% for life once five of your own clients have joined through you, and clients you bring yourself pay 10% from day one.
You must be over 18. Apply on Find a Job with the parts of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire you can reach and whether overnights suit you.
