About this role

Academics off to conferences, hospital staff on long shifts, families travelling in the holidays: Oxford has plenty of owners who need cover for a dog at home. We are looking for three self-employed pet sitters who can provide it. It is not the walking job. You are standing in for the owner.

Bookings range from a single visit at midday to a week of nights in the house. You follow the owner's written routine for food, medication and toilet breaks, walk the dog, spend time with it and send a daily update.

WoofWalk does not employ you. There is no wage, and we do not promise work. Your price per visit and per night is yours to set, you accept the bookings that suit you, and owners pay through the app, with the money paid out to your bank. Sorting out tax, National Insurance and insurance falls to you.

Public sitter listings in Oxford show a home visit at about £14.50 and a night of home boarding at about £38.

If you would rather take dogs into your own home, that is home boarding. It needs a licence from the council first, and the app lists it as a separate service. At the owner's address you need no licence.

The terms are short. There is nothing to pay to join and no commission for 14 days; then WoofWalk takes 15% of each booking, falling to 10% for life once five of your own clients have joined through you. Anyone you introduce yourself pays the 10% rate from the first day.

Over 18 only. Apply on Find a Job with the parts of Oxford you can reach, and say whether you can stay overnight.
