About this role

Term dates, conferences and research trips mean Cambridge households are forever going away and coming back. When a dog is left at home, its owner wants somebody trustworthy to look after it there. We would like three self-employed pet sitters, and this is a different job from the walking one we advertise.

You would visit the owner's home once or twice a day, or stay overnight, for anything from a night to a month. You follow their routine and give the dog meals, medication where needed, toilet breaks, a walk and company, then message the owner every day.

No wage, no promised work. WoofWalk is not an employer; it is the app owners use to book you. You decide your own price per visit and per night, you choose your bookings, and owners pay through the app, which pays the money out to your bank. Your tax, National Insurance and insurance are yours to look after.

Public sitter listings in the Cambridge area put a drop-in visit anywhere from about £8 to £18. That is a wide range, and it is other people's pricing, so choose what feels right for your time.

If dogs would stay at your own place, that is home boarding, a separate service in the app that needs a licence from the council before you begin. In the owner's home you need no licence.

Free to join. No commission in your first 14 days, then 15% per booking, dropping to 10% for life when five of your own clients have joined through you. Clients you find yourself pay 10% from the first booking.

Over 18. To apply, use Find a Job and list the Cambridge areas you can reach, noting whether overnights are possible.
