About this role

Exeter's students go home for the holidays and plenty of owners go away too, which is why we are advertising for pet sitters here. It is a separate job from dog walking. You look after a dog in the owner's home while they are away, rather than taking it out and handing it back.

A typical booking is a visit or two a day for a few days, or a stay in the house over a weekend. You follow the owner's routine, handle meals and any medication, take the dog out, give it company and send a short daily update.

Because WoofWalk is a booking app, you are self-employed and the app is not an employer. It pays no wage and cannot promise any bookings. Prices are yours, set per visit and per night, and you accept only the jobs you want. Owners book and pay in the app, and you receive the payment in your bank. Sorting out tax, National Insurance and insurance is your own business.

Public sitter listings in Exeter show a drop-in visit between about £11.50 and £13, and home boarding anywhere from £25 to £60 a night.

Home boarding means dogs staying at your own address. You need a council licence first, and it has a separate listing in the app. House sitting at the owner's place does not.

Joining is free. The first 14 days are commission-free, then 15% of each booking, and 10% for life once five of your own clients have joined through you. If you bring clients yourself, they pay the 10% rate from day one.

Over 18. Tell us on Find a Job which parts of Exeter you can reach and whether you can do overnights.
