About this role

Around Salisbury there are garrisons, villages along the Woodford valley and a good many dog owners who need to travel at short notice. Some will do anything to avoid kennels. We are looking for three self-employed pet sitters to care for dogs in their owners' homes, including one who can reach Amesbury. That is a different job from our dog-walking advert.

Bookings come as visits, overnight stays or longer cover. You follow the owner's notes for food and medication, take the dog out, spend time with it and send an update every day. Owners with forces families tend to want a sitter who can step in at short notice and be dependable throughout.

You decide your own prices for a visit and for a night, and owners pay through the app. The app then pays the money out to your bank. It is a booking app, not an employer, so no wage is paid and there is no guaranteed work for anyone. Tax, National Insurance and insurance are your own affair. Our research turned up no Salisbury sitting price.

Having a dog stay in your house is a different thing, home boarding. That requires a council licence beforehand and appears in the app as its own listing. You need no licence to sit at the owner's home.

Your costs

none to join, none for 14 days, then 15% of each booking. Bring five clients of your own and it is 10% for life. The clients you bring yourself are charged 10% from day one.

Over 18. Apply on Find a Job, telling us whether Amesbury and the Woodford valley are within reach and whether you can sleep over.
