About this role

St Albans is a commuter city with a lot of dogs, and when the household goes away the dog is better off at home. We want three self-employed pet sitters: one for the centre and Fleetville, one for Marshalswick and Jersey Farm and one for Harpenden and the villages. Walking is another job, and it has its own advert.

As a sitter you go into the owner's home, for a visit, a night or a week. You follow their routine, look after meals and medication, take the dog out, spend time with it and send the owner a daily update, so they can stop worrying and enjoy the trip.

Having dogs stay at your own home is home boarding: a council licence first, and a separate listing in the app. Visits and house sitting at the owner's home need no licence.

How we fit in. WoofWalk is a booking app and not your employer, so there is no wage, and work is not guaranteed. Your rates for a visit and for a night are your choice. Owners book and pay through the app, which sends your earnings to your bank. Tax, National Insurance and insurance remain your business. No St Albans sitting price turned up in our research.

On commission

signing up is free, and the first 14 days cost nothing. Then 15% of each booking. At five of your own clients joined through you the rate falls to 10% for life, and clients you bring yourself pay 10% from day one.

Over 18. Apply on Find a Job, telling us which of the three areas you can reach and whether you are able to stay overnight.
