About this role

Stoke-on-Trent is six towns, and owners in each of them go away. We would like three self-employed pet sitters spread between Hanley and Burslem, Stoke and Fenton, and Longton, to look after dogs in the owners' own homes. You will not be walking dogs for an hour; you will be keeping the dog's day going while the owner is away.

The routine is the owner's. You feed the dog, give any medication, let it out, take it for a walk and stay for company, and you send a message every day. Overnight stays and holiday weeks are the heart of the work, though some owners only want a midday visit.

You run this as your own business, setting a price for each visit and each night. Owners pay through the app; the money then reaches your bank. WoofWalk is not an employer. It pays no wage and does not guarantee work, which is why we call the arrangement self-employed. Tax, National Insurance and insurance need looking after by you. We have no Stoke-on-Trent sitting prices in our research.

One rule to know. Dogs staying at your own place is home boarding, needing a council licence before you start and listed separately in the app. At the owner's home you need no licence.

Costs for you

none to join, none for 14 days, then 15% of each booking. If five of your own clients join through you, 10% for life. Clients you bring yourself pay 10% from the beginning.

You must be over 18. Apply on Find a Job with the towns you can reach and whether overnights suit you.
