About this role
An exceptional opportunity for a mid-level QS (Construction) to shape the future of Property & Construction in London.
This growing SME in the Property & Construction sector has built a solid reputation across London's residential and commercial schemes, and it now needs a QS (Construction) who can keep pace with an expanding project pipeline. Cost certainty matters more than ever in this market. Clients want it, contractors need it, and the businesses that get it right win repeat work.
You'll join a team of 51 to 250 people where the processes are established but there's still genuine room to make the role your own. Mid-level QS professionals here aren't just processing paperwork. They're shaping how projects get delivered.
Here's what you'll be doing
Preparing cost plans, budgets and tender documentation for live construction projects across London
Measuring quantities and valuing works on site, then reconciling against contract sums
Managing the procurement process, from subcontractor packages through to final account
Reviewing variations, assessing claims and negotiating settlements with contractors and suppliers
Producing monthly cost reports for internal stakeholders and, where relevant, client teams
Liaising with site managers, architects and project leads to keep budgets on track
Here are the skills you'll need
A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline (or working towards MRICS)
Solid experience as a QS (Construction) within a contracting, consultancy or developer environment
Confident use of measurement software and cost management tools
Sharp attention to detail. Numbers need to add up, and small errors cost real money on site
Strong negotiation skills, particularly around variations and final accounts
Clear communication, spoken and written. You'll be reporting to people who don't live in spreadsheets all day
Key perks and benefits
£43,500 to £56,000 depending on experience, plus bonus scheme
Hybrid working, with flexibility built around project needs rather than fixed office days
Private medical insurance and pension contribution
Generous annual leave allowance
Genuine professional development support, including progression towards chartership
Why pursue a career in Property & Construction?
London's construction pipeline shows no sign of slowing, and that means steady demand for QS professionals who can control cost without losing sight of quality. Property & Construction rewards people who are precise, direct and good under pressure. Few sectors offer as clear a route from mid-level QS work to senior commercial leadership, and London remains one of the best places in the country to build that career.
This QS (Construction) opportunity is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
