About this role
Step into this Compliance Officer role and build something that matters in Financial Services.
Regulation in Financial Services has only gone one direction over the past decade: tighter, more granular, and less forgiving of gaps. This enterprise-scale organisation, a well-established name in the sector, needs a Compliance Officer who can keep pace with that shift while its Cambridge operation continues to grow. You'd be joining a business with the scale to do things properly and the frameworks already in place to support you.
Here's what you'll be doing
Monitor regulatory changes affecting the business and translate them into practical policy updates
Conduct compliance reviews and risk assessments across business units, flagging issues before they become problems
Maintain and improve the compliance monitoring programme, including testing schedules and reporting cycles
Support the business through internal audits and regulator engagement, preparing documentation and evidence packs
Deliver training sessions that help colleagues understand their compliance obligations without drowning them in jargon
Investigate breaches or near-misses, write up findings clearly, and recommend fixes that actually stick
Here are the skills you'll need
A few years' experience in a compliance role within Financial Services, ideally with exposure to FCA regulation
Solid working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and how they apply in practice, not just on paper
Sharp attention to detail. Compliance work punishes sloppiness
Confidence writing clearly for different audiences, from front-line staff to senior leadership
Good judgement under pressure, particularly when a decision needs to be made without a perfect precedent to follow
Comfortable working within established best practices while still being willing to question them when needed
Key perks and benefits
Salary of £44,000 to £55,000, depending on experience
Hybrid working, splitting time between home and the Cambridge office
Private medical and dental insurance
Enhanced pension scheme and performance-based bonuses
Structured career development within a large, stable organisation
Why pursue a career in Financial Services?
Compliance has become one of the more secure and well-rewarded career paths in Financial Services, precisely because the regulatory bar keeps rising. Cambridge has quietly built a strong Financial Services presence alongside its tech and life sciences reputation, giving a Compliance Officer here genuine variety and long-term prospects. Good compliance people are hard to find, which tends to work in your favour when it comes to progression.
This Compliance Officer opportunity is brought to you by The Opportunity Hub UK.
