About this role

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and caring person to cover our reception and medical room for part of the week as part of a job share.

Duties include dealing with enquiries from students, parents and members of the public, as well as external agencies, which can be face-to-face as well as by phone and email. Therefore, you will need to be confident working with our students, but also a great communicator and administrator (including use of IT) and happy to work alone as well as part of a wider team. Our reception is open from 8.15am – 4.15pm Monday to Friday during term time only.

Our receptionists are our main first aiders so you will also be taking care of students who are unwell. Therefore, ideally you will already have some medical or pastoral experience and hold a valid First Aid at Work Certificate, but training can be provided for the right candidate.

What the school offers its staff

  • Committed, motivated and high attaining students
  • Teachers Pension Scheme and STPCD/Burgundy Book terms & conditions (for teaching staff)
  • Local Government Pension Scheme and NJC/Green Book terms & conditions (for support staff)
  • A confidential and independent Employee Assistance Programme with a 24/7 support helpline for access to counselling and advice
  • ‘Rarely cover’ policy for covering teacher absence; very low levels of staff cover
  • An active staff committee who organize regular social events
  • A large staff room with plenty of workstations as well as space for socialising
  • Free on-site parking
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free on-site staff flu vaccinations
  • School laptops allocated to all teachers
  • Discounted membership at 5 Rivers Gym & Swimming Pool (conveniently located right next door) as well as all other Wiltshire Council leisure facilities
  • On-site canteen and sixth form cafe
