About this role

County Power Ltd | Rushden, Northamptonshire | £35,000–£45,000 + performance bonus

County Power is an established air-conditioning and ventilation services business providing installation, maintenance and repair services to commercial and domestic customers across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

We are entering our next phase of growth, with a clear ambition to build a stronger commercial customer base and grow annual turnover.

We are looking for a commercially driven, hands-on General Manager who can win customers, lead people and run the business — not simply manage an existing operation.

The opportunity

Reporting to the owner, you will take responsibility for day-to-day business performance, with a particular focus on customer acquisition, profitable sales and operational delivery. You will receive a structured handover from the current owners over the first few months, giving you the opportunity to understand the business, its customers and its operations before taking full ownership of the day-to-day running.

What you will do

•

Win new business

Build a consistent pipeline of high-value commercial customers, develop relationships with decision-makers and convert opportunities into profitable work.

•

Grow existing accounts

Develop repeat business, maintenance agreements, referrals and opportunities across multiple customer sites.

•

Lead service delivery

Coordinate engineers, subcontractors and back-office staff to ensure jobs are properly scheduled, delivered and invoiced.

•

Own commercial performance

Manage quotations, follow-ups, margins, customer relationships and the sales pipeline.

•

Run the business

Maintain operational visibility, manage priorities, monitor cash flow and profitability, and report performance to the owner.

•

Build a growth engine

Establish practical sales processes, partnerships and customer acquisition channels that can support sustainable growth.

Who we are looking for

You are a commercially minded manager with a proven record of generating B2B sales and developing customer relationships, ideally within HVAC, refrigeration, building services, facilities management or another technical services business.

You can demonstrate that you have personally won business, developed a sales pipeline and converted opportunities into revenue. You are equally comfortable coordinating engineers, managing customer expectations and making practical operational decisions.

You are mature, self-motivated and comfortable working with considerable autonomy. You do not need to be an HVAC engineer, but you must be able to work confidently with technical teams and understand how to deliver work profitably.

Experience managing a small business, branch, service operation or commercial team would be a strong advantage.

What we offer

• A genuine opportunity to shape and grow an established business.

• Direct responsibility for commercial performance and day-to-day operations.

• A competitive basic salary of £40,000–£45,000, plus a performance-related bonus linked to profitable growth.

• The opportunity to build a business with strong ambitions.

• A practical, entrepreneurial environment where initiative and results matter.

Location and coverage

Based in Rushden, Northamptonshire, serving customers across Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. The role will involve visiting customers and coordinating work across the service area.

How to apply

Please send your CV with a brief covering note to recruitment@countypower.com explaining

1. How you have personally won new business and grown revenue.

2. Your experience managing engineers or technical service teams.

3. Why you are suited to taking ownership of a small business's commercial growth and day-to-day operations.

We are particularly interested in evidence of results, not just responsibilities.
