About this role

As a Return to Practice Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll refresh and rebuild your clinical skills while working alongside experienced colleagues.

The role is offered at full-time and is located at Cedar House within our St. Michael's Community Hospital site within the School Age Speech & Language Therapy Team. The weekly hours for this role will be agreed at interview.

Our School-Age Speech and Language Therapy Service supports children and young people in Enfield with speech, language and communication needs, as well as difficulties with eating and drinking.

What you'll bring

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and eligibility for HCPC registration.
  • Previous experience as an SLT (any specialism) and a desire to refresh your skills.
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice and person-centred care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children, young people, families, and colleagues.
  • Openness to feedback and a growth mindset—ready to learn, adapt, and regain confidence.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive sufficient applications for the role, and therefore advise submission of applications at the earliest opportunity.

The post holder will work under the guidance of senior SLTs to

  • Assess, plan, and deliver individualised intervention for children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing your insights to holistic care plans.
  • Training, advice and consultation for school staff to help create communication-friendly learning environments.
  • Keep accurate, timely clinical records in line with HCPC and RCSLT standards.
  • Engage in structured learning activities to meet your Return to Practice requirements, including supervised practice hours and reflective learning.

We are committed to co-production with families, listening to 'the voice of the child' when working with children and young people (CYP) and actively involve CYP in target setting and evaluation
