About the Opportunities

Net Zero Careers is supporting recruitment for a large-scale new-build development at the Biscuit Factory in Bermondsey. We are looking for bricklayers, insulation fitters, hod carriers and labourers to support the site team.

You'll work under the direction of experienced supervisors and tradespeople, helping deliver brickwork, blockwork, insulation installation and general site duties.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the role, duties may include

-

Building brickwork and blockwork.

-

Setting out and constructing brickwork, including decorative features.

-

Carrying out cavity walling, including openings and joint finishes.

-

Fitting damp-proof courses (DPC).

-

Installing rigid and mineral wool insulation.

-

Installing wind posts, parapet posts and masonry support systems.

-

Carrying out hod carrier duties and general labouring.

-

Following site instructions and maintaining safe working practices.

-

Using tools, equipment and materials safely.

Requirements

-

A valid CSCS card.

-

Relevant experience for the role you are applying for.

An understanding of site health and safety, including working at height where required.

-

The ability to follow instructions and work effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

Good communication skills and a reliable, flexible approach.

The ability to work outdoors and at height where required.

Bricklaying applicants should have relevant bricklaying skills and qualifications. A minimum Level 2 NVQ in Bricklaying is specified for the bricklaying skills requirements.

Residency Requirements

Seven positions

Applicants must live in the London Borough of Southwark.

Two apprenticeships

Open to applicants living in any London borough.

Working Arrangements and Start Date

The roles are expected to start within the next 2-3 months, although exact start dates are yet to be confirmed.

Pay starts at £14.80 per hour for the main roles, depending on experience. Apprenticeship/NVQ opportunities are expected to pay around £12 per hour, also depending on experience.
