About this role

Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

Planning a route into educational or clinical psychology and need strong, school-based experience? Use your psychology toolkit to support pupils and learn what effective intervention looks like in practice.

*** Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant

*** November start until July 2027

*** £81 - £101 per day

*** ‘Outstanding’ primary school, Ward of Hodge Hill

*** Ideal for a graduate looking to go into educational or clinical psychology

What you’ll do

Work with the SENCO and class teachers to deliver targeted support for pupils who need an extra lift. You’ll use visual supports and routines, break learning into manageable chunks, and run short, evidence-informed interventions in literacy, numeracy and social–emotional skills. You’ll record observations, note quick progress, and feed into simple plans so next steps are clear.

Who you are

A psychology (or related) graduate who’s organised, reflective, and clear in your communication. You’re comfortable following support plans, can build trust quickly, and keep sessions calm, purposeful and child-centred.

Requirements

  • Degree – 2:2 or above in any subject.
  • Communication – Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS – Held already or willingness to obtain.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Clear interest in SEN, child development and wellbeing.

The School

An ‘Outstanding’ primary in Hodge Hill with well-sequenced provision, robust routines and a skilled staff team. You’ll get practical coaching, access to high-quality resources, and regular feedback—excellent preparation for Assistant Psych/Ed Psych pathways or ITT.

How to Apply

Send your CV and include your November availability, DBS status, and two referees if possible. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a brief call and an in-school interview/observation. Early applications are encouraged, as the school may appoint before the closing date.

Due to the high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
