Pre Registration Pharmacy Technician

To work with healthcare staff and patients in a polite and efficient manner (face to face, over the phone or by electronic methods), responding to their needs and within the limits of their knowledge, responsibilities and legal and professional requirements. To dispense and final accuracy check all types of prescribed medicines, including oral cytotoxic and controlled drugs, in accordance with safe systems of work laid down in departmental procedures. To work on the pharmacy reception, serving patients, receiving prescriptions, taking payments and managing the initial receipt of work into the department. Provide advice to staff, members of the public and patients on the use and side effects of medicines in accordance with departmental procedures. To counsel patients and/or their carers on all aspects of their medication within the department or at ward level To work with other members of the pharmacy team and wider multi-disciplinary teams involved in patient care to provide a safe and effective medicines management process To complete and maintain records relating to the supply of medicines in accordance with departmental procedure and professional and legal requirements. To provide advice to all healthcare professionals on the safe storage and handling of drugs.
