Locum Consultant in Acute Medicine

The post holder will join a team of 6 acute consultants. They will take part in a)

AMU Ward round

Allocated as AMU consultant of the day once/twice a week. To do a post take ward round in the morning with the AMU resident doctors from 8 am. Lead the board rounds around midday with the resident doctors, Nursing team and allied health teams. In the afternoon the consultant will support the ward and resident doctors manage Acutely unwell patients and facilitating safe discharges. b)

SDEC

Minimum once a week scheduled to cover SDEC. Shift begins at 0900 and ends at 1800. There will be two board rounds in the day discussing all patients with resident Doctors and nurse in charge. To review all cases of ACP and other resident doctors as appropriate and post take any admissions from SDEC. Currently SDEC consultants support GIM take by doing an afternoon post take round but this would be under review. After 7 pm the A&E consultant will be supporting SDEC upto 10 pm. c)

GIM on call

the successful candidate will take part in the GIM on call rota as well.
