About this role

SENCO / Deputy Lead - Therapeutic Outdoor Provision

Welling Area ASAP Start |

Temp to Perm Salary

£50,000-£56,000 DOE

A therapeutic outdoor learning centre in the Welling area is seeking an experienced SENCO who is ready to step into a broader leadership role. This is a unique setting where education, nature and therapeutic practice work hand‑in‑hand to support children and young people with SEMH and SEND needs.

The provision offers a highly nurturing, relationship‑based environment where learning takes place outdoors whatever the weather - rain or shine. Staff work collaboratively across education, therapy and pastoral teams to create personalised pathways that help pupils thrive emotionally, socially and academically.

The Headship team is exceptionally supportive, visible and committed to developing leaders. This role is ideal for a SENCO with team‑leader or line‑management experience who is ready to progress into a Deputy‑level position with additional safeguarding responsibilities.

About the Provision

  • Outdoor and nature‑based learning at the heart of the curriculum
  • Therapeutic, experiential and practical activities embedded throughout the day
  • Small, highly supported classes with strong multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Calm, structured routines and a relationship‑centred ethos
  • Leadership team that prioritises staff wellbeing, clarity and professional growth

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate SEND provision across the centre
  • Ensure EHCPs are implemented, monitored and reviewed effectively
  • Provide line management, guidance and accountability for education staff
  • Support whole‑centre safeguarding as DSL/DDSL
  • Work closely with therapy teams to deliver personalised learning pathways
  • Contribute to strategic development and continuous improvement across the provision
  • Champion outdoor learning and model engagement in all weather conditions

Requirements

  • QTS
  • NASENCO Award
  • Experience as a SENCO with some leadership or line‑management responsibilities
  • Confidence stepping into a Deputy‑level role with DSL duties
  • Strong understanding of SEMH, SEND and therapeutic approaches
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
  • Genuine passion for outdoor learning and nature‑based education

If you're an ambitious SENCO who thrives in nurturing, outdoor environments and is ready to take the next step into senior leadership, this temp‑to‑perm role offers a meaningful opportunity to make a lasting impact.
