Take Your Coaching Skills Into the Classroom

If you can motivate a group, set clear boundaries, build confidence and get young people working together, you already have many of the skills schools are looking for.

We're recruiting Sports Coaches and Teaching Assistants to work across secondary schools in Salford, supporting pupils both in PE and within the wider school environment.

These flexible roles are ideal for sports coaches, graduates and people with experience working with young people who want to gain school-based experience without immediately committing to a permanent education role.

You could be supporting a PE lesson one day, supervising a classroom the next and helping pupils stay focused and engaged throughout the school day.

Where Sport Meets Education

Your coaching experience isn't just useful on the pitch.

The ability to lead, motivate, communicate and manage a group transfers directly into a school environment.

Depending on the placement, you could

  • Support or lead PE activities with KS3 and KS4 pupils.
  • Deliver sports sessions including football, rugby, basketball and athletics.
  • Help organise extracurricular sport and physical activities.
  • Work alongside teachers as a classroom Teaching Assistant.
  • Provide lesson cover as a Cover Supervisor where appropriate.
  • Encourage pupils who struggle with confidence, motivation or engagement.
  • Promote teamwork, resilience and positive behaviour.
  • Build strong professional relationships with young people.

Who Are We Looking For?

You might already be a Sports Coach, PE Assistant, Youth Worker or Sports Graduate, or perhaps you're considering a future career in teaching.

We're particularly interested in people who

  • Have experience working with young people aged 11-16 in the UK.
  • Have a sports, PE or relevant coaching qualification.
  • Are confident leading groups of teenagers.
  • Can establish clear boundaries and manage behaviour positively.
  • Are reliable, adaptable and comfortable working in different schools.
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm without losing structure and professionalism.

Previous classroom experience is useful, but strong coaching experience can provide an excellent foundation for working in education.

Work That Fits Around You

  • Experience across secondary school environments.
  • Support from a dedicated education consultant.
  • The chance to build experience towards a future career in PE, teaching or wider education.
  • Varied work that combines sport, education and supporting young people.
