About this role
Your new company
You'll be joining a global biopharmaceutical organisation developing novel biologic therapies for autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. You'll work within a collaborative research team applying advanced cellular immunology to progress new targets and therapeutic programmes through preclinical discovery.
Your new role
As a Senior Scientist, you will be a hands-on laboratory scientist supporting the discovery and development of novel biologic therapies as part of a highly experienced team. This is a lab based role, initially running for 12 months with a good possibility of extension.
Key responsibilities include
- Designing and running functional in vitro immune-cell assays to support target validation and therapeutic antibody programmes
- Isolating and culturing primary immune cells, alongside cell-line engineering and other cellular biology approaches
- Applying multicolour flow cytometry to characterise immune responses and generate robust preclinical data
- Developing, optimising and troubleshooting assays, analysing results and drawing clear conclusions to support project decisions
- Contributing scientific insight into autoimmune disease biology, target mechanisms and new experimental approaches
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams, CROs, academic groups and external scientific partners
What you'll need to succeed
- An MSc or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Immunology, Biochemistry, Biology or a related life science discipline, with relevant postdoctoral and/or biotech, pharma or CRO industry experience of drug discovery projects
- Strong hands-on experience with primary immune-cell isolation (PBMC, monocyte, B-cell, T-cell), cell culture and functional assay development
- Expertise in multicolour flow cytometry, including experimental design, execution and data interpretation
- Good understanding of immunology and human disease pathology, ideally within autoimmune or inflammatory disease
- Experience in drug discovery, target validation or preclinical therapeutic development, ideally involving antibodies or other biologics
- Experimental troubleshooting, scientific communication and collaborative working skills
- The ability to work well in a highly collaborative, cross-functional research environment
- The right to work in the UK until at least November 2027 (preferably beyond), as no sponsorship is available for this role
What you'll get in return
A very generous pay rate (equivalent to a £70-80,000 salary) dependent on experience, and the chance to drive forward several drug discovery and development projects in a leading global pharmaceutical company.
