About this role

Our dedicated Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department are looking for the perfect candidate to join us as a Senior Clinical Fellow.

Within your role, you will ensure the continued delivery of high-quality Obstetric and Gynaecological care to patients within the Trust and community and contribute to the further development of the service.

There may be an occasional requirement to complement the existing general Gynaecology and Obstetrics services and an opportunity to take on extra clinics or theatres. You will be expected to join the on call team on a rota basis.

The appointed Senior Clinical Fellow would be expected to contribute to the ongoing service improvement programme developing:

  • Our Maternity Culture Transformation programme
  • Implementing evidence based new ways of working when necessary.

Please note this is a fixed term vacancy.

  • Working collaboratively with nursing and midwifery colleagues, lead service developments across all O&G services, in line with the Better Births Review and ensuring that learning from reports such as Kirkup and Ockenden are embedded in practice.
  • To provide an on-call commitment for Central Delivery Suite and emergency Gynaecology cover as 1:10 on call. The post holder will be expected to be contactable and able to reach the hospital when needed within 30 minutes.
  • To ensure services are delivered effectively and within budget regarding the Trusts' waiting times standards.
  • To liaise closely with other departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of our services.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn NHS Foundation Trust provides acute, specialist, maternity and community services for around 375,000 people across West and North Norfolk, North Cambs and South Lincs. We are united in delivering safe, high‑quality and compassionate care.

Each year, our teams support tens of thousands of patients, including over 94,000 Emergency Department attendances, more than 25,000 day‑case procedures, nearly 32,000 elective and non‑elective inpatients, and over 1,700 births across 22 wards and around 500 beds.

As part of the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group, we work closely with partner hospitals to share expertise, innovate and create new opportunities for collaboration, learning and career development.

We are helping shape the future of local healthcare, with plans for new state‑of‑the‑art hospitals in King’s Lynn and Gorleston through the Government’s New Hospital Programme, and ongoing digital investment such as implementing an electronic patient record.

The QEH holds teaching hospital status and is research active, recruiting more than 1,800 participants to NIHR portfolio studies last year. Rated ‘Good’ by the CQC in Caring, Well‑Led and Effective, with Maternity Services also rated ‘Good’, and with around 4,000 staff and volunteers, we offer a strong community ethos and a focus on learning, wellbeing and development. The QEH is a place where your contribution matters — and where you can help shape the future of healthcare.

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information on this role.

We look forward to hearing from you.
