Paediatric Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist

To support/participate and deputise if required in Consultant and Nurse-led clinics working within guidelines agreed by the respiratory care team To develop the knowledge and skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for respiratory patients in secondary care and using this understanding to improve the individual patients understanding of their respiratory condition and management. Identify their needs; provide education, monitoring and support To act as an advocate for and support the patient and their carers. Be the key worker in co-ordinating the efforts of the multidisciplinary team. Be aware of the key therapies available to these patients and be conversant with their usage ensuring patients and professionals have sufficient knowledge to deliver safe and effective care. Undertake a holistic assessment of patients needs encompassing physical, emotional, social and spiritual issues, including the needs of their family and carers.
