What skills and experience we're looking for

Scholes (Elmet) Primary School is looking for a full time class teacher to join our school, starting January 2027. The role is temporary in the first instance, ending August 2027. There is a possibility that the contract may be extended after this time, subject to school budgets.

For our children, we're a happy and healthy place to learn. For our staff, we're a happy and healthy place to work

  • ‘It’s great to work with such supportive colleagues.’
  • ‘I feel valued as a part of the team.’

(Staff survey, 2026)

We're seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher who shares our commitment to the highest standards, where our children can live and learn in a happy and safe environment. We're committed to raising attainment and accelerating progress through effective pedagogy, a comprehensive curriculum and rigour in everything we do.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate they can be a successful member of our happy and healthy team. This includes someone who shows motivation and enthusiasm and great inter-personal skills.

PPA time

this is always alongside colleagues in school, so you'll benefit from lots of support from other experienced teachers in the same phase.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and early career teachers (ECTs). We have a strong track record of supporting ECTs. The post involves working closely with other teachers within our school, across the phase and across Sphere Federation (Moortown Primary; Scholes (Elmet) Primary; St James' CE Primary).

We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds.
