About the role

As a

Personal Development Worker, you'll provide individualised, person-centred support, helping people live their lives in ways that reflect their choices, interests and needs.

You'll build meaningful, respectful relationships while supporting everyday activities, communication, health and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include

  • Supporting personal care, meals, medication, appointments, household tasks and travel
  • Learning each person's communication style, preferences and routines
  • Encouraging choice, independence and participation in activities and community life
  • Recognising changes in health, behaviour or wellbeing and raising concerns appropriately
  • Following support plans, safeguarding procedures and risk assessments
  • Maintaining accurate electronic care records and communicating effectively across shifts
  • Working collaboratively with families, colleagues and professionals

Shifts may include evenings, weekends, bank holidays and supporting holidays or trips.

About you

You'll be

patient, reliable, respectful and genuinely interested in supporting others. You'll communicate clearly, demonstrate good judgement and be comfortable working independently and within a small team.

A willingness to learn different communication approaches, follow guidance and complete essential training, including safeguarding and medication, is important.

Previous care experience isn't essential. Experience supporting autistic adults or people with learning disabilities, including non-speaking individuals or those with complex needs, would be advantageous.

A relevant care qualification or experience in supported living or community support would also be beneficial. A

full driving licence may be required, depending on the individual support arrangement.
