This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional, senior Teaching Assistant, Inclusion Lead or aspiring SENDCo who is passionate about improving outcomes for young people with additional needs.

Working closely with the SENDCo and wider Inclusion Team, you will play a key role in ensuring students with SEND receive the support, guidance and interventions they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role

As Assistant SENDCo, you will support the operational management of SEND provision across the secondary phase, helping to ensure high-quality support systems are in place for students, staff and families.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Supporting the day-to-day management of SEND provision across the school
  • Maintaining the SEND register and ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Coordinating Teaching Assistant deployment and supporting performance management processes
  • Assisting with EHCP reviews, annual reviews and SEND documentation
  • Monitoring student progress and supporting intervention strategies
  • Leading and developing SEND support staff through meetings, training and professional development
  • Liaising with parents, carers, external agencies and primary feeder schools
  • Supporting exam access arrangements and SEND-related assessment processes
  • Planning and delivering literacy interventions for Key Stage 3 students
  • Working closely with pastoral and teaching teams to remove barriers to learning and improve student outcomes

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual who has

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in a secondary school setting
  • Strong knowledge of SEND processes, EHCPs and the SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience coordinating support staff or leading interventions
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to analyse data and use it to inform support strategies
  • A commitment to inclusion and achieving positive outcomes for all learners
  • Experience of multi-agency working and liaising with parents and external professionals

A relevant SEND qualification or experience working within an inclusion department would be highly advantageous.

What the School Offers

  • A supportive and collaborative Inclusion Team
  • Opportunities for professional development and career progression
  • A welcoming and inclusive school community
  • The chance to make a genuine impact on the lives of young people
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing and development
