About this role
Based at Royal Derby Hospital, a 1,100 bed acute hospital, Clinical Engineering provides
technical support to a wide range of equipment within this and neighbouring trusts and
other healthcare establishments within Southern Derbyshire.
We are recruiting a Medical Equipment Technician to carry out scheduled preventative
maintenance, servicing, calibration and repairs on a range of medical equipment. You will be
part of a team providing technical support to general medical equipment in adult and
paediatric environments.
You will have a BTEC/ONC, or equivalent, with experience in the maintenance and repair of
electro-mechanical equipment. Ideally you will be on the Voluntary Register of Clinical
Technologists and have completed generic and specific training courses covering theory of
operation, maintenance procedures, diagnosing faults and safety issues relating to
equipment for which Clinical Engineering provide a technical support service.
Technical training will be provided on-site and by attendance on manufacturer’s training
courses.
The Clinical Engineering Technician will provide a comprehensive maintenance, inspection and repair service for a wide range of clinical equipment across the Trust, ensuring devices are safe, effective and available to support patient care.
The post holder will undertake planned preventative maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs, including responding to urgent equipment breakdowns and prioritising work to minimise disruption to clinical services. They will maintain accurate records using the Trust's Medical Equipment Management System, comply with all Health and Safety policies and departmental procedures, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
The role involves planning and managing workloads, transporting and handling clinical equipment between Trust sites, and supporting workshop activities. The post holder will also participate in out-of-hours, shift and weekend working as required to ensure essential clinical equipment remains operational and available for patient use.
