About this role
Engineering Support Technician
Night Shift, 4 Nights On / 4 Nights Off
Are you a practical, hands-on problem solver who enjoys fixing things, keeping equipment running and seeing the results of your work? We’re looking for an Engineering Support Technician to join our client’s busy Engineering & Maintenance team in Newark.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical engineering background who enjoys variety, working with their hands and being part of a team where your work directly helps keep production moving.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll provide essential hands-on support to the Engineering and Production teams, helping to keep equipment operational, resolve issues quickly and minimise downtime.
You’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into a varied role where no two shifts are necessarily the same. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, using your initiative and working closely with engineers and production colleagues.
Your Day-to-Day Will Include
- Assisting the Engineering team with general repairs and maintenance.
- Supporting the team with incubation-related issues when required.
- Repairing and maintaining setter trolleys.
- Repairing and maintaining farm trolleys.
- Repairing broken egg trays and key trays wherever possible.
- Repairing hatcher and chick boxes.
- Repairing broken dollies and replacing wheels when required.
- Identifying faults and carrying out practical repairs.
- Helping to minimise equipment downtime and keep production running efficiently.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised working environment.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is hands-on, dependable and enjoys solving problems.
You’ll ideally be
- Practical and confident working with tools and equipment.
- Comfortable working independently and using your own initiative.
- A natural problem solver who can make decisions when required.
- Well organised with good time-management skills.
- A good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.
- Flexible, reliable and committed.
- Comfortable working night shifts.
- Willing to provide occasional day-shift cover for holidays and sickness.
Experience & Skills
Essential
- Engineering background or practical engineering experience.
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team.
- Good organisational and decision-making skills.
- Ability to use your own initiative.
- IT literate.
- Experience working within a hatchery environment.
Desirable
- TIG welding experience.
- MIG welding experience.
- Experience repairing production equipment.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
The Shift Pattern
4 Nights On / 4 Nights Off
This role offers a consistent night-shift pattern, providing an excellent work-life balance.
Some flexibility will be required, as you may occasionally be asked to work day shifts to cover annual leave or sickness.
