We don’t look for qualifications or previous care experience. Skills can be taught, and we’ll give you the training and support to learn them. What we believe makes a good carer is empathy, compassion, patience and a big heart.

Perhaps you’ve raised a family, cared for a loved one or you’re simply someone who naturally looks out for others. If caring for people comes naturally to you, we can help you build the skills and confidence for the role.

What you’ll be doing

As a Care Assistant at Frome Nursing Home, you’ll get to know our family members as individuals and support them with their everyday lives.

This can include

*Spending time together, providing companionship and getting to know what matters to each person

* Supporting with personal care, including washing, dressing and bathroom visits

* Helping family members maintain their independence, choices and dignity

* Supporting people living with dementia, including during moments of confusion, distress or uncertainty

* Helping with meals, activities and trips out

* Noticing changes in someone’s wellbeing and sharing concerns with your team

* Using a computer or tablet to record daily care notes

You don’t need to be a computer expert. We’ll show you how to use our electronic care records and what information needs to be recorded.
