Minister of Religion (Priest) – Job Description and Responsibilities

The Minister of Religion (Priest) is responsible for conducting Hindu religious worship and ceremonies in accordance with the Hindu Saiva Agamas, scriptures, traditions, and temple practices. The Priest performs daily and special poojas, rituals, and religious observances, ensuring that all ceremonies are conducted according to established Saiva religious requirements. The Priest is authorised to enter the main shrines and sanctums to perform sacred duties and will be assisted by Religious Workers.

The Priest is also responsible for teaching and promoting Hindu religious values, traditions, and scriptures to adults and children from Hindu families, helping them deepen their understanding and practice of the Hindu faith.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct daily poojas and special religious ceremonies in accordance with Hindu Saiva Agamas.

Chant Vedic and Agamic mantras during worship and religious events.

Perform Abishekams (ritual bathing of deities), Alankarams (decoration of deities), Homams (fire rituals), and other sacred ceremonies.

Enter and perform rituals within the main shrines and sanctums as required by temple tradition.

Lead and participate in religious festivals, observances, and special temple events.

Teach Vedas, Hindu scriptures, religious practices, and Hindu values to adults and children.

Provide spiritual guidance and religious instruction to devotees.

Supervise and direct Religious Workers assisting with temple worship and activities.

Ensure all religious services are conducted in accordance with Hindu Saiva traditions, customs, and temple regulations.

Maintain the sanctity, discipline, and religious standards of the temple.
