About this role

We are seeking an experienced Medical Staffing Manager to join our team and lead the Medical Staffing and Education team, managing and supporting all aspects of medical staffing, including HR and education across the Trust.

We are looking for someone who has a medical staffing background, particularly specialist knowledge and experience of medical workforce terms and conditions, national and local strategies/initiatives, contract negotiations, policies and procedures to expertly manage the medical workforce and education service for the Trust. This includes an underpinning knowledge on key areas such as terms and conditions, job planning, training, rotas, on-call management, revalidation, medical education and study leave.

It is 'essential' that you are able to demonstrate your experience of implementing and advising doctors and managers on the various aspects described above.

You will report to the Associate Director of Medical Development and work in partnership with the Trust senior management and leadership supporting the delivery of medical workforce strategy.

  • Provide professional medical staffing advice to all levels of managers across the full range of employee relations issues
  • Oversight and supervision of the Medical Staffing and Education team (3 staff)
  • Build and maintain credible relationships with our resident doctors, consultants, specialist doctors and service managers across the trust, ensuring complex or sensitive information is communicated in a confident way
  • Act as a point of contact for managers and staff who are seeking advice on various policies and to analyse queries, offering solutions
  • Advise managers on all aspects of the medical recruitment processes, rotations, and job planning.

The “must haves” for this role

1. Degree or equivalent experience

2. Specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate short courses, training or equivalent experience, in a relevant field

3. Leadership Qualification or equivalent experience

4. Demonstrable experience of working autonomously to deliver high quality and evidence-based medical staffing advice and expertise

5. Experience in making complex recruitment processes and ideally the appointment process for Consultant Medical Staffing

6. Experience in rota development, management and pay processes

7. Ability to travel to multiple sites with minimal impact on daily productivity.
