An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced practitioner who will support and mentor other staff within the team, sharing their knowledge and experience.
The successful candidate be conscientious, committed with excellent leadership and communication skills and someone who can demonstrate passion, inquiry and energy.
Brunstane Primary School is a non-denominational primary school which serves the Brunstane, Bingham and Magdalene area of East Edinburgh. For session 2026-27, we have 14 classes P1-7 including our Enhanced Support Base with a school roll of approximately 270 and a nursery with capacity for 92 children.
The Nursery is staffed with a friendly, supportive, energetic and passionate team. Our environment is natural, warm and welcoming, with nurturing and rich spaces, both indoors and out.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years proven, post qualifying experience in an Early Years setting and relevant experience of working with parents and carers.
Please note - You must ensure that you have one of the following qualifications before you apply
- SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 7
or
- HNC Childhood Practice
and
- Registered with SSSC as a Practitioner in the Day Care of Children, without conditions

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
