Are you an empathetic, driven, and highly organised professional dedicated to removing barriers to learning for young people?We are seeking a Pastoral Manager to lead the pastoral care team, guide Heads of Year, and build support systems that ensure every student reaches their full academic and personal potential.
The Opportunity
As Pastoral Manager, you will play a key role in fostering a positive school culture where students feel supported, safe, and motivated to achieve. You will lead and mentor Heads of Year, manage targeted intervention strategies, oversee student well-being, and work directly with families and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
Key Responsibilities

Pastoral Leadership
Line manage, mentor, and develop Heads of Year and pastoral teams.

Student Achievement & Well-being
Address barriers to learning, maintain high-risk student registers, and coordinate targeted interventions for attendance, punctuality, and behavior.

Safeguarding
Work under the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to support child protection procedures and multi-agency planning.

Transition & Programs
Lead primary transition strategies, coordinate the annual Summer School programme, and oversee Careers, Information, Advice and Guidance (CIAG) services.

School Culture & Community
Manage community engagement, lead charity initiatives, oversee student voice, and run celebration assemblies.
Experience & Skills
-
Background in pastoral support, counselling, or careers guidance within a secondary school setting

Experience leading teams, managing workloads, and communicating with large groups

Proficiency in using ICT and school data management systems (e.g., Bromcom)

High-level communication skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to handle sensitive situations confidentially
